Welcome to Norge Elementary Library!

 

The Norge School library is designed to embody and support the vision and mission  of Norge Elementary. The school library is an important resource center available    for all Norge students and their families, teachers, administrators, and support staff.  Resources include a variety of materials and equipment to support student learning. Resources include up-to-date materials in a variety of formats including hard copy, information technology resources, audiovisual, and computer equipment.

 

The librarian will plan lessons and instruct students in conjunction with Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) objectives and the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Standards for the 21st Century Learner. She will also collaborate with teachers and staff to provide support for additional curriculum related     interests and classroom activities.

 

Technology is an integral part of preparing our students for their future in an ever-changing world. The school librarian continually integrates technology into media center instruction for grades K-5. With prior notification student computers will       also be available to support class and individual student learning.

 

In order to meet the needs of all students, parents, and educators the Norge Elementary School library website provides 24/7 online access to research tools       and databases, catalogs, links to reading resources, curriculum related information    & lesson plans, and multimedia & technology resources.

 

Library hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 4:15pm for teachers and staff; 9:20am-3:50pm for students and parents. Designated times will be made available for students to use the library for individual or class research.  Designated times will     also be made available on a walk-in basis for students to return, browse through,    and check out new books.
